There is so much happening in Technology! Students in grades 3-8 are utilizing their laptops in class for projects, ALEKS, Study Island, and more. Grades K-2 are playing educational games on their 4 desktops and we also added 4 laptops to each room for center work. In the Computer Lab, students are very busy completing projects. The 4-year old Preschoolers attend Computer class twice a week to work on Reading Eggs which is a program designed to get children successfully started on the journey to become proficient and motivated readers. They look forward to coming and are doing a great job! Thank you to the Family and School Association for providing the funds to pay for this subscription!
The Kindergarteners have been using Kid Pix to show off their creativity. They are illustrating the life cycle of a butterfly. Watching the life cycle happen in their classroom is great inspiration!
Grade 1/2 is learning about the Rainforest. Each student was assigned a Rainforest animal. They had to read and learn information about their animal and then type it into a chart. Each of their pages will be put together into a booklet that they will each bring home. They are also using Dance Mat Typing to practice their keyboarding skills.
Grade 3/4 is learning about the states. Each student was assigned one state. They are creating a PowerPoint about their state which includes all the new information they are learning from www.facts4me.com.
Grade 4 comes to the lab once a week to work on Type to Learn to practice their keyboarding skills. They are doing a great job using correct finger placement.
Grade 5/6 is researching information about the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans. They are learning about the cultures, religions, daily life, and the geography of each group. They are completing a chart with their information.
Grade 7/8 is using Google SketchUp to create a 3-D model of a building in downtown Chicago. They are using Google Earth to get a good view of the building to help with their drawings.
